FAQ
Zoom vs. In-Person Voice Lessons
I teach both in-person at my studio in Provo, UT, and remotely via Zoom. Each format offers unique advantages. With the advent of Zoom, students can now take voice lessons with expert instructors regardless of location, and I can work with exceptionally talented singers from anywhere in the world.
Zoom Voice Lessons: Do They Really Work?
That’s a great question—and my answer is a resounding “Yes, absolutely!” I’ve taught hundreds of singers over Zoom with great success. Give it a try and see if it’s the right fit for you.

What are voice lessons on Zoom like with you?
For the first 10-20 minutes, I will have you do a series of warm-ups and vocal exercises. These are not only meant to warm up your voice, but also to build and train your voice. In this time, I will teach you vocal technique and how to implement it into your own voice. I will teach you proper breathing, phonation, and resonance. After that, I will have you sing! I will focus on your needs and have you implement vocal technique in your singing.
What styles of singing do you teach?
I specialize in classical singing and opera, but I also teach other styles, including musical theater and contemporary genres. Regardless of the style, all singing shares the same foundational principles of healthy vocal technique: proper breathing, phonation, and resonance.
Why Zoom?
Zoom offers a feature that sets it apart from other platforms: Original Sound for Musicians. After testing multiple video-conferencing tools, I’ve found Zoom delivers the clearest sound—crucial for effective voice lessons. Many other platforms filter out “background noise,” which can unintentionally reduce the quality of the sound. That’s why I choose Zoom for the best possible voice lesson experience.
